I enjoyed listening to this lecture by renowned smart guy Sam Harris on his book The Moral Landscape.
In it, Mr. Harris makes two arguments, the first that Consciousness is the basis of value. And therefore morality relates to the intentions and behaviours that affect the well-being of conscious creatures, and that Science is able to exhaustively identify what is good.
The former argument I am 100% behind, and my own reasoning takes this further. The latter, like the previous post’s mention of Nietzsche’s Gay Science pointed out, attributes too much reach to the abilities of science.
