Appointed the Prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea on March 11, 2014, here Natalia Poklonskaya speaks to an audience of reporters.
Looking rather young for 34, Ms. Poklonskaya caused me to pause and consider what it would be like to stand in her shoes (assuming her feet are large, or my feet are terribly small by Crimean standards).
As Attorney General, she is thrust into a position which concerns the rule of law within the context of a creeping, silent war. She, her colleagues, and the citizens she serves are essentially between the teeth of history; it takes a strong person to keep themselves together under such pressure.
I hope it works out for her et al.

Not everyone, just those who aren’t bastards.
For the bastards, I hope they finally ‘get it’ during a silent moment in an empty hallway, perhaps beside a plant, itself without a window.
I hope it causes these men and women to sit on the ground, and to put into their hands, their clammy heads. I hope they feel the weight of brain and bone being pulled down to the Earth, stressing their forearms atop their knees.
I want them to feel the meat of their bodies stretch and compress, and from this awareness of themselves, we need their clear minds to reassemble their egos around that invaluable realization that it does no one any good to be a bastard, not even the bastards themselves.
I’m not here speaking just of Russians, nor Ukrainians, but of everyone, anyone who through their selfish shortsightedness, or selfish malice perpetuate and/or exacerbate what damages and what does not improve our common civilization.
If you are starting shit because you believe it helps you or yours, fuck you. If you are doing wrong for no good reason (by your own account), you are a complete idiot, and you most of all need to check yourself before you become rekt. Either way, the lot of you are fools.
