A nude pretty lady, the thin line of art, and ‘the man’ watching your porn

Hello morally upstanding reader,

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume you did not arrive here, a bib around your neck, looking for something savory with… perhaps unsavory intentions.

I'm sure we're all so ethically fit and disciplined...

I’m sure we’re all so ethically fit and disciplined…

I have been posting fairly regularly, but to no real effect other than to show you things which I find to be cool.

[By the way, this naturally-exploding whale, I find to be quite cool]

And so, for the sake of this being a purposeful enterprise, and thus a good use of my time… I will make a greater effort to produce thoughtful copy.

And so without any more ado, let us get into a pornographic link which I am to share:

Now I don’t know Ms. Underwood, nor do I know really anything about her celebrity but that of her body and her outward feminine disposition, and the resultant exuding of the present western aesthetical-zeitgeist.

This is why I wanted to post it, because I thought it was something good, like a pleasing flower, or a beautiful song, or an athlete, or animal or thing fit for its (or a) purpose (like a cheetah running, or a machine build to drive around corners).

Of course, when it came to Google the material in order to share it, I found that most of the results were from porn websites. This confronted me with another editorial challenge: do I share what I think has aesthetic value, or do I not because of the un-clean association with pornography?

Well, I posted it.

Sex is something that when you’re in it, you know it, and it’s good (if its good). It is such that when you’re near it, and you’re not a part of it… it can be off-putting, or even humorous. And art shares this quality when there is more than a hint of sex in it.

I think if there were more to this video, the intentional act of her going down a path… or even the suggestion of this journey which invariably ends at the orgasm, or even if another person were present with her, then I believe this would be very different piece. It would not be something I would want to share; it would instead be something I put away into my mind, as one might hang a beloved-yet-ugly garment in a closet for no one other than ones self to see.

Sex is a strange thing. And so too art about it, touched by it, or toward its end.

Here, a Gizmodo story on PornMD’s Most Searched Terms in Porn by Country and State

People (primarily men?) will want what they want… but, yeesh, if the search terms are any indication, it’s certainly understood to be a private affair.

The morality of pornography is far too deep an issue for the time which I have at present. Suffice to say, the various forms of pornography present challenges atop challenges when classifying right or wrong, and for prescribing what one ought to do or not do in the privacy of the bedroom, or what one should want to see or not want to see within the vague range of acceptability before a computer screen.

The saturation of all cultures with the everything-at-once internet, where sexting, snapchatting, and what some believe to be private webcam encounters simply add to the stream of pornography in the form of ‘amateur porn’ is a very real problem.

Teen sexting could lead to child porn production or possession charges

As sensationalist as the aforementioned headline is, the greater problem which we are seeing the effect of could be the oversexualization of the youth. With the ‘no holds barred’ nature of the internet, and the way which pop culture seems to keep redefining the lowest common denominator to which to sell to… there could be something unwell afoot.

And this sex-selling amounts to sex-instructing, and it’s the most impressionable among us who sop it up.

Sex, and thus pornography, is not commonly talked about, not in the workplace, not at home, not in school; sex is an underground idea, something which at one time or another concerns us all, and is not to be talked about save for some specific situations among good friends.

And what an influence it has on us all.

I am not in favour of handing over authority to groups or governments to choose what is right and what is wrong content, but there may be some agreeable way in which to darken (to obfuscate) the darkest places of the net. The issue with policing the internet, besides harassing innocent users, would be increasing/moving the scope of information regulation from sexual abuse to include political ideas, and the free flow of ideas among people.

Can it be done and ought it be done? I do not know. Are there things on the internet that people should not access? Without a doubt there is, just as there are places in the world no man ought to go. But we ought not raise walls in the world, instead we work with ourselves and each other in the world to create the world most amiable for each and all. I believe the same effort must be collectively taken with regard to the internet, and the material on it.

As a digitally-connected people, we are still young. I believe that in time we will sort it out.

Before I finish off and turn to a more lighter note (the regular fluff content I regularly share), I would like to share one more sex / pornography related story.

Top-Secret Document Reveals NSA Spied On Porn Habits As Part Of Plan To Discredit ‘Radicalizers’

The distant sound of so many birds rhythmically flapping their wings…

Rather than go on about my feelings about this, I will quote a gentleman (or lady?) from reddit, user kyte17

“And still people refuse to acknowledge the threat posed by those who enact and support these policies. Ignore the fact that it’s about porn (and that it either doesn’t affect you or you just don’t care) – they are spying on you with the intention of using your private information to neutralize you as a political threat. That is the core of it, and regardless of the details, that is a very dangerous mentality to allow to flourish within a government that purports to represent its people.”

Let’s close with a couple obnoxious songs, and a little something about sand (sometimes after sex, there’s sand; beaches be crazy).

About Ossington

I often think but seldom share these thoughts. And if the product of my thinking is to affect anything but my own sense of satisfaction, then surely it must be shared. Here you may try to know what I believe to know.
