My last post viewed the actions of the state, be they atrocious or amicable, as being generally determined by necessity, circumstance, and inertia. This paints a pretty ugly picture as it seems to keep us away from being quick to correct glaring problems and that it may in effect railroad us toward other such catastrophes.
When someone asks me what our immediate future looks like, given the present goings on of the world, I first say that it is bad, bad news. At the same time, however, there is the factor of human necessity, of compassion, volition, and the fundamental need to survive which exists in all life. It is by this latter fact that we are still here today. And I believe it will yet allow us to make it through the current economic/geopolitical/environmental capital ‘P’ problems that threaten us all.
And whether this reaction to the foreshadowing of destruction manifests in the powers that be altering their plan, or in the masses waking up to the reality that we’re all brothers and sisters upon our mother Earth, I do not know. I hope that it is the latter, but that’s not to say that it is impossible for it to be accomplished by the former element. Furthermore, it’s also quite possible that the ruling cabal itself could change or evolve into perhaps a more transparent and openly compassionate controlling entity. In any such case it is the needs of the powerful and the circumstances in the world which necessitate such actions, and I do believe that a correction will take place… whether it is from the bottom or the top I do not know, and in this post I do not wish to take a guess as to either such scenario coming into being.
Life finds a way. Despite all of the terrible events throughout known and prehistory, we are still here, and I do believe that by the tenacious character of humanity, that we will survive yet another. [That’s not to say that we can will ourselves out of an extra-planetary catastrophe like an asteroid impact or the collapse of the Earth’s magnetic field. Those are examples of why the state (or at least a high level of organization with regard to research, science and large scale industrial production and the associated logistics) is required. But I digress…]
